Connie W. Mao

Connie is an associate of the Compliance Team at Yuanda China Law Firm Offices. Her practice area mainly focuses on corporate governance and compliance matters, and foreign-related dispute resolution. Connie is experienced in corporate compliance and dispute resolution. She is familiar with foreign-related civil and commercial legal disputes and provides comprehensive legal services for foreign enterprises and offshore companies in China, including the establishment of rules and regulations, human resources management, labor compliance and equity transfer, etc. She also assists foreign clients in intellectual property rights protection, including the application and protection of trademarks, and witnessing services.

Prior to joining Yuanda, she worked in a general practice law firm for several years.

  • Provide legal service to domestic industry associations and assist foreign NGO to operate in compliance in China.
  • Provide foreign companies or foreign employees with labor-related legal advice and offer a variety of strategies to protect rights or lay off employees in a legal manner.
  • Provide legal advice to an Indian enterprise on labor and employment in China, and issue bilingual legal opinions on the process of establishing the labor union.

Dispute Resolution

  • Represent a Chinese medical technology company in a contractual dispute with an Austrian company in Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), assisting in the providing of legal solutions and drafting of a statement of defense to the dispute.
  • Represent a Fortune 500 automobile company in establishing its defense in an arbitration case concerning a sales agreement dispute with a subject matter of tens of millions of RMB, and, under the situation of incomplete evidence, fully explored the available evidence, filed a counterclaim in the arbitration, and ultimately obtained a favorable arbitral award.
  • Represent three passengers in a contract dispute over the air transport contract with a domestic airline and obtained satisfactory compensation for the passengers after the first and second trials.
  • Represent a financial consulting company in a dispute over a contract of engagement, assisting the client in filing the objection to jurisdiction, which led to the court’s decision to dismiss the action. Successfully assisted the client to avoid further litigation by obtaining the dismissal of the appeal filed by the opposing party and the affirmance of the judgment from the first trail.
  • Represent a sporting equipment company in an e-commerce operation service contract dispute, taking pre-trail property preservation measures before trial and successfully recovering basic service fees for the client.
  • Represent a Chinese company in a loan contract dispute and reach civil mediation. Eventually recovered part of the loan amount through an application to enforce the guarantor’s personal account of the public reserve fund.
